About these Pages
Languages
This site supports language negotiation. Your browser tells this
web server which languages you understand (or prefer), and our server
tries to find the best match between what I've provided and what you want.
Currently, only German and English are supported, and some pages are
available only in one of the two languages.
If you see a server message like "not acceptable", your
browser has told the server to deliver a page in a language that was not
supported for this page. For example, if you have instructed your browser
to accept English pages only, and you try to load one of my German-only
pages, you'll probably end up with "not acceptable". Most browsers enable
you to define language preferences, so you could configure your browser
to ask for English (preferred) or German (if English unavailable).
For the convenience of users with browsers lacking language support,
there's a link at the bottom of most pages that allows you
to switch languages manually.
Comments
For some time, I offered a (Greenspun-inspired) "comment" function on
all of my pages whereby users could write public annotations to that
page. However, most misunderstood the feature and some misused it, so
here we are back with that old "unidirectional" content again.
Of course, anything you might have to say about these pages is still
highly appreciated - please submit it by
mail.
Geographic Coordinates
Geographic coordinates anywhere on these pages are specified in degrees
of latitude/longitude, minutes and fractions of a minute, i.e. the
specification "N12°34.567" means 12 degrees and 34.567 minutes North. The number
of digits hints at the precision - 12°34 means it's precise to the
minute (for latitudes, that's a precision of +/- 0.5 nautical miles or
+/- 0.9 kilometres), while 12°34.56 would indicate a precision of
1/100th of a minute (for latitudes that's +/- 25 feet or +/- 9 metres).
Statistics
During the month of August 2018, 2,547 MB were downloaded from
my pages in about 0,000 visits and 93,000 hits.
