Day Tour, Part 3

Twilight set in, but there was no sign of people leaving the Wall. I left for the city centre.

This picture is a bit too dark but from what you do see, it's easy to guess that there still were lots of people (the picture shows the entrance to the "Wittenbergplatz" subway station).

Having reached the Kudamm (Berlin's famous shopping mile), I met a group of tourists marching with this poster ("Thanks to the people from West Berlin").

At some kind of fountain (the name of which I've forgotten) a radio station was playing music, and people were having a party in the open.

Saturday evening was the right moment to tell people not to spend everything tonight: This display informs them that most shops will be open on Sundy (which is usually not permitted in Germany).

The newspapers ran many features about the prolonged shop openings, e.g. the Höchster Kreisblatt.

Many shops were open a good bit into the night, and even after they had closed, lots of people came for a stroll along the shop windows.

So much for this "Day tour" starter. Many more newspaper articles are in the article list, and if your browser works well, then the images you've seen now are marked in the photo list so that you can easily single out those you don't know yet. Enjoy!
