Straight from the Horror Show? Not really - this is Bealach Na Ba (literally "Pass of the Cattle"), the pass road from Tornapress (between Shieldaig and Lochcarron) to Applecross. It climbs from more-or-less sea level to over 2000ft and is the highest road in Scotland. Needless to say: "Normally impassable in wintry conditions": Tornapress to Applecross
This could be the setting for any number of fairy tales - the road through part of the Dundonnell Estate at the end of Little Loch Broom (near Ullapool). Dundonnell to Allt na h-Airbhe
Expect stunning views like these on the journey through the Inverpolly National Nature Reserve, south of Lochinver. Inverkirkaig to Aird of Coigach
Ok, so you thought that it rains all the time in Scotland, and now you're disappointed because on my photos the weather is always brilliant. You want rain? I can give you rain... Achnasheen to Strathcarron Junction
Just so that nobody is fooled into thinking Scotland only had tiny little single track roads - here's the A9 leading over Kessock Bridge into Inverness: Tore to Inverness (Longman)
