Ullapool is the last town of relevant size for the rest
of Northern Scotland (and there's quite some "rest" still to go!). They still
do a lot of fishing here, and all tourist facilities are available. There's
a Safeway supermarket and even a book shop, and two or three times a day the
ferry leaves for Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides.
